Final Records:                    Versailles   (13-1)            Huron (11-3)
Drew Stall ran for two touchdowns and blocked a punt for a safety to highlight the Versailles Tigers' 16-6 victory over Huron.  Versailles used a well-tuned rushing attack and a swarming defense to hold off the upstart Tigers.
The 5-11, 175-pound Stall capped off two first-half drives with short touchdown runs and his blocked punt for a safety in the third quarter gave the Tigers their final margin of victory.
With the help of a short punt to the Huron 38, Versailles took a 6-0 lead on a two-yard touchdown run by Stall.  The drive was highlighted by two fourth-down conversions.  Quarterback Jason Turner tossed a seven-yard pass to Ryan Yakos on a forth-and-three play at the Huron 31 and Tom Miller ran for a first down on a fourth-and three play from the Huron five-yard line.  Stall scored on the next day.
Huron retaliated with a 72-yard, 14-play scoring march.  On fourth down at the Versailles three-yard line, Huron quarterback Joe Harkelroad was the holder for an apparent 20-yard field goal attempt.  Harkelroad took the snap, stood, rolled to his right, and then threw a pass to wingback Tim McGraw in the corner of the end zone for a touchdown.  The extra point kick was blocked by Yakos, leaving the score at 6-6 with 9:53 left in 9:53 left in the second quarter. Huron was back in business.
Versailles regained the lead with an impressive 61-yard, 12-play drive.  Stall scored on a four-yard run to climax the march with 3:29 left in the first half.  The touchdown was set up by Turner's 13-yard run to the Huron four-yard line on a fourth-and four play.  Versailles increased the lead to 14-6 on a two-point conversion pass from Turner to Jeff Davidson.
Late in the third quarter, Stall closed out the scoring when he blocked a Huron punt out of the end zone for a safety.  The huge defensive play gave Versailles a 16-6 lead.
The Versailles defense shutout Huron the rest of the way to seal the victory.  They held Huron to 76 yards rushing, nine first downs, and 132 total yards, but statistics cannot measure their domination.  Most impressive in Versailles' defense performance was that they were without the services of Division IV defensive-player-of-the-year David Hoelscher.  The senior lineman was sidelined with a deep thigh bruise.

Cheers:  "David's (injured defensive end David Hoelscher) a very important part of our team.  Sure, we had some concerns coming into the game without him.  But, we were a team all year and we were again tonight.  It felt great winning the title in 1990 and it feels just as good tonight."
Versailles head coach Al Hetrick

Tears:  "We play a very strong schedule.  But I don't remember anybody getting to Joe (quarterback Joe Harkelroad) as quickly and consistently as Versailles did tonight."
Huron head coach Tony Legando
